CSR project boosts schoolkids in Mozambique

Scroll down for more

Hundreds of schoolchildren in Mozambique are to benefit from a new corporate social responsibility (CSR) program we have launched.

We will be helping to provide a number of services and donations including payment of school fees, delivery of uniforms and supplies, and the provision of community bicycles along with a workshop and training.

The secondary school is in a village called Ocua in Cabo Delgado province, some 200 kilometers from our logistics base in Pemba. Our involvement will allow the students to receive proper educational support and help them to increase their attendance, performance and quality of life. It also aims to increase the number of youngsters going on to university and to boost gender diversity.

The project is being implemented by two national NGOs, HELPO and Mozambikes. It has already provided the students with a school materials kit including backpacks, pens, notebooks, and files.

Talumba Katawala, National Content and Subcontract Administration Manager for our Coral South development, said: “We visited the Ocua school in 2019 and were tremendously moved by the community involvement. “Parents, teachers and students all contribute to the upkeep of the grounds and most of the green area is used to grow crops. “We believe that a community as strong as Ocua can truly benefit from this support.”
